Provenance:Doyle, New York, sale of December 3, 2003, lot 298.Acquired directly from the above sale.Lot Note:The present work is one of several watercolors executed by William Zorach during a trip to Guatemala in 1960, along with his wife Marguerite as well as friends Batheena Diermont and her husband Albert (neighbors of the couple both in Maine and in Florida). It is a rare rendering of one of few trips the artist and his wife ever took abroad.
